Bicheno
Bicheno is a fishing port and holiday destination on the east coast of Tasmania. Bicheno’s mild climate, outstanding fishing, fine sandy beaches nearby and has a picturesque setting.
Wineglass Bay
Wineglass Bay is located on the west side of the Freycinet Peninsula in the east of Tasmania, about 100 kilometres northeast of Hobart.
Wineglass Bay provides habitats for many different species. Tasmanian devils, eastern quolls and spotted-tail quolls live in the eucalyptus forests around the bay. The area is home to a variety of reptiles, such as the pretty skink and a huge number of bird species including the pied oystercatcher. Large numbers if sea animals, such as sponges and anemones live in the waters off Wineglass Bay.
The rocky landscape around the bay comes from red granite, the rock type of the Freycinet Peninsula.
