Stay in one of eight pavilions dedicated to Australian artists and architects who have influenced MONA. They are bold and elegant in design and feature bespoke furniture by Tasmanian designers, along with a who’s who in international furniture pieces.

Three are glass cubes that appear balanced in the landscape; one is a three-storey diamond shaped building enclosed in a silver metallic skin; and the remaining four cantilever over the river bank. You can choose from one or two bedroom configurations.
All pavilions offer spa bath and king-size bed.
Guests also have access to the sauna, gymnasium and heated lap pool.

Please note that from Tuesday the 26th of July and for every Tuesday onwards the Mona gallery and it’s services on site will be closed, however breakfast will be available in The Source restaurant for our pavilion guests and alternate dining options for dinner will also be available.

In January 2011 David Walsh launched his now infamous Museum of Old and New Art commonly referred to as MONA. This is a Hobart art gallery with a huge difference and a breath of fresh air making Tasmania’s capital an even more attractive place to come and visit. David Walsh, who has made a fortune with different gambling systems, has created an awe inspiring place that excites, shocks and amuses in equal measures. With over $100m of art this is an absolute must see around Hobart.

Are you looking to go on a Tasmania fly drive holiday? There isn’t anything easier as Tasmania is set up perfectly for this kind of holiday. For extensive information on how to fly to Tasmania click the link just mentioned. The short version is that there are regular services from a number of low cost carriers flying in several times a day to both Launceston and Hobart.

Once you touch down in Tassie, there are a number of the leading car rental companies to choose from including the likes of Thrifty, Europcar, Vroom Vroom Vroom, Budget, Avis and Hertz to name just the usual suspects right in the airports. As you can see from the map of Tasmania‘s highways, getting around the island is really easy as it is serviced by a number of highways.

Many travellers and tourists will decide to travel around the island in a circular route. Say you fly in to Hobart (browse Hobart accommodation)  you then might decide to go around the island in a clockwise direction through Lake St Clair to Strahan in the west. From Strahan you could then head east stopping in Cradle Mountain (browse Cradle Mountain accommodation) towards Tasmania’s oldest city Launceston (browse Launceston accommodation). From Launceston you could head further east to St Helens and then south to Freycinet and eventually end up back in Hobart to fly home.

Would you Prefer to Drive your own Car?

There is another way to see Tasmania than a Tasmania fly drive holiday. If you have your own car and would like to experience Tasmania in it, you can alternatively get the car ferry to Tasmania known as the Spirit of Tasmania.

September is a great time to visit Tasmania as the weather is warming up and baby animals are everywhere!  Strahan is a great place to get close to nature; you can immerse yourself in the rainforest, see stunning waterfalls and see little penguins at a remote island at the mouth of Macqaurie Harbour.  West coast Tasmania has so much to offer and if you stay in Strahan accommodation it gives you the ideal base to go exploring.

Alternatively, if you want the best of two worlds, nature and city life, then Hobart accommodation is probably a better idea.  Hobart is actually in easy distance to Southwest National park where you can see sandy beaches, snow capped mountain tops – you can even do over night walks if you have the energy!  Hobart is a beautiful city and it is packed with fun activities including historic sites, sailing trips and ghost tours!
