Mole Creek is a little town of about 250 people with an economy mainly revolving around forestry and timber, agriculture and tourism. The town takes its name from the habit of the local creek of disappearing underground and reappearing after travelling some distance underground.

Mole Creek is well known for its honey and accounts for about 35 percent of Tasmania’s honey production including Leatherwood Honey which is unique to Tasmania and sold internationally.

Mole Creek Karst National Park is also nearby, including the famous caves – Marakoopa Cave and King Solomons Cave, which have been popular with tourists for many years. There are also walking trails to spectacular lookouts such as Alum Cliffs and Devils Gullet and much, much more.

Mole Creek has everything you need for a long or short stay – great food, cosy accommodation and friendly hospitality.

Whilst you can <a href="http://www.booktasmaniaaccommodation.com.au/blog/fly-to-tasmania/"title="Fly to Tasmania" >fly to Tasmania, you can also take the ferry to Tasmania. The Tasmania ferry is known as the Spirit of Tasmania and travels between Melbourne and Devonport. The obvious advantage of taking the ferry as opposed to flying is that you can take your car or vehicle with you. Having a car, camper or any other form of transport in Tasmania is great for getting around. The driving in many places is incredible. Take the ferry option and you don’t need to pay for vehicle rentals and have the comfort of your own car.

Information about the Ferry to Tasmania

How long does the ferry take?

The trip takes approximately 9-11 hours depending on sailing conditions and scheduling.

How often does it go?

On certain days there is a single trip and on certain days there are two trips.

When do you sail?

You can choose between taking a night ferry or a day ferry. During summer months taking a day ferry can be a great option with spectacular scenery and plenty of space to explore and relax. Going down the night ferry route is also a great option too. Travel from Port Melbourne and see this great Australian city by night.

How much does it cost?

The cheapest fare for a car on board is from $79 each way during low season. The price rises during high season and also depends on the size of your vehicle. Cars with campers or trailers over 7m can expect to pay more.

Is there accommodation on board?

9-11 hours is a long time to be on board if you want to relax and have some privacy. In light of this, you can book recliners or cabins to enjoy your crossing the most.

Where to stay in Tasmania?

Once you’ve got the ferry to Tasmania you need to decide where you are going to stay. BookTasmaniaAccommodation.com.au has an extensive range of Tasmania accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes. You can also browse Hobart accommodation or Launceston accommodation if staying in the two main cities.

The micro- designed online booking engine, Accommodation Guru – created by one of the original founders of travel.com.au – has partnered with international channel manager, SiteMinder.

The move allows accommodation providers to list their inventory on the dozens of geographically themed and independently licensed booking sites powered by the Accommodation Guru online reservation system, which was established by travel software developer and website entrepreneur, Dave Upton, in 2005.

Mr Upton, who was one of the founders of travel.com.au before they floated on the Sydney Stock Exchange for $23 million in 2001, has created more than 70 regional websites around Australia and overseas such as www.GrampiansVictoria.com.au and www.BookTasmaniaAccommodation.com.au – all of which rank highly in internet searches for accommodation in those regions. Accommodation Guru is planning to create and license many more sites, which are ‘micro’ designed to allow site owners to include all property types including smaller local properties such as B&Bs, with just one room that are often overlooked by major international accommodation portals.

SiteMinder Managing Director Mike Ford said: “SiteMinder’s online distribution platform would enable accommodation providers of all sizes to reach Accommodation Guru’s range of new websites”.

“Properties can use SiteMinder to manage all these websites and many other leading online portals around the world that SiteMinder already connects with such as Expedia, Booking.com and Agoda,” Mr Ford said. “We help hotels effectively manage their availability and pricing across a multitude of online booking sites from one single, easy-to-use SiteMinder web page. SiteMinder also automatically captures bookings and drops them back directly into hotels’ reservation systems, saving time, hassle and money.”

Accommodation Guru Director, Dave Upton, said SiteMinder’s growing channel management system would help expand his network of regional and privately licensed accommodation websites around the world. “We are expanding quickly along with the rapidly growing proportion of rooms booked on the net so SiteMinder will power that growth and boost the number and variety of properties we feature on our sites,” Mr Upton said.”
